Growing up, children split their time between home and school, so it is important to build a strong bond between the two. Teachers need to communicate with parents and families about their students, whether the student is doing well or not. This communication could lead the teacher to information on how to better teach the student, what is going on at home may not always be seen during the school day.
I view the link between the home and school as being one the most important connections in ensuring the success of a student. I also realize that it might be difficult to connect with some homes due to the situation of the parents. I plan to find a way to connect with all parents in a way that works well for them. Some parents may not respond well to email, but might be better at connecting through phone calls. I also recognize that one single meeting time may not work for all parents to have meetings, it might be inconvenient to find alternative times to meet with parents, but it is necessary for the success of the students in my classroom.
