Having an environment of Respect and Rapport is to have a classroom where the teacher respects the students, the students respect the teacher, and the students respect each other. Having a respectful and welcoming classroom makes all students feel comfortable and makes them want to be at school and be learning.
In my future classroom, I plan to create an environment of respect and rapport by welcoming the students into my classroom before every class period. I remember from my time in middle school and high school, many of the teachers stood outside their classroom doors every morning welcoming students into the classroom and it always made me feel important and as though the teacher truly cared about me. I also plan to get to know the students for who they are in and out of school, this will include asking any student athletes how their games went or asking students in band and choir how their concerts went. Knowing students on a personal basis can help show students that you genuinely care about them.
