Having classroom procedures is a way to improve learning by having a class be more organize and planned. Having procedures that students know to follow improves the flow of a class, this is important because it increases instruction time and decreases opportunities for students to have bad behaviors. Bad behavior often occurs during transition times during class; if the teacher plans transitions, there is less of an opportunity for bad behavior.
I plan to manage classroom behaviors by having a list on the board at the beginning of each class of the materials that students will need for the class period. This will eliminate the need for students to get up in the middle of class to get something. I also plan to develop a standard routine so the students have an idea of how each class will work, but not so much that the students feel as though every day is the same thing.
